2006 MIT Manufacturing Conference

2006 MIT Manufacturing Conference: The Impact of Globalization on New Product Development and Manufacturing: Imperatives for Success

December 6, 2006 - December 7, 2006

Wong Auditorium

Leaders for Manufacturing Program*
MIT Forum for Supply Chain Innovation
System Design and Management Program*

As industries world-wide address the unprecedented and increasingly complex problems caused by globalization, leading MIT faculty and researchers working in conjunction with industry leaders are seeking solutions and developing new approaches to traditional practices.

This program explores the challenges globalization presents to new product development and manufacturing and focuses on the critical areas of outsourcing, supply chains, information technology and more. MIT faculty, thought leaders, and industry experts will discuss ways to address some of the most critical challenges of globalization such as currency issues, new markets, and distributed manufacturing and product development. This conference will also explore both the broad strategic implications of these trends, such as macroeconomic issues and market changes, and some of the tactical questions of managing global product development networks and global supply chains.

*LFM and SDM are co-sponsored by MIT Sloan School of Management and School of Engineering. Both LFM and SDM reside within MIT's Engineering Systems Division.
